Apple shuts down standalone Chomp service

Following the introduction of the new Chomp-styled App Store layout in iOS 6, built upon Apple’s purchasing of the app search and discovery platform earlier this year, Apple has shut down the standalone Chomp service, reports “MacRumors” (www.macrumors.com).

Chomp’s proprietary algorithm purportedly learns the functions and topics of apps, so you can search based on what apps do, not just what they’re called. You can try searching for “puzzle games,” “kids games,” “expense trackers,” “tip calculators” or “chat” to start finding the type of apps you’re looking for.
