Kode80 has announced Simul80, an iOS joystick emulation app for OS X. Designed for both iOS game developers and fans of iOS gaming, it allows Bluetooth-enabled Macs to control existing iOS games that have joystick support.

Any Mac compatible joystick or gamepad may be used and jail breaking isn’t required. Input in Simul80 is fully configurable. The Mac’s keyboard and any compatible joystick or gamepad can be used and configured from directly within the app.

When Simul80 is running any Bluetooth enabled iOS device will discover it as a Bluetooth keyboard enabling Simul80 to send the appropriate key presses directly to the device, just like a real joystick. It’s a free download from the kode80 website (http://kode80.com/).
