I.R.I.S. (http://www.irislink.com/) has released Readiris 14 and IRIScan Book 2. The IRIScan Book 2 is an portable scanner that scans books, documents, magazines and photos anytime, anywhere without the use of a computer.
It’s available in a standard, US$99 version that’s powered by two AA batteries or a $129 Executive version with an integrated rechargeable battery. Both come bundled with Readiris Pro 12 (for Mac OS and Windows) to process scans. Readiris is a OCR solution designed to save time when converting paper documents, PDFs or image files into editable and searchable digital text.
The IRIScan Book 2 scans directly to an included MicroSD card in black/white or color with 600 and 300 dpi scanning resolutions. No driver installation is required; you just connect the scanner with the included USB cable or insert the MicroSD card into the computer.
