A test by the Piper Jaffray investment bank says that Apple’s Siri voice recognition software introduced with the iPhone 4S doesn’t work that well, notes “Bloomberg” (http://macte.ch/1rXUv).

Of 1,600 common searches, the speech technology accurately resolved the request 83% of the time on a loud street and 89% in a quieter setting, according to the report. Piper Jaffray gave Siri a “D” for accuracy, though predicting it will improve over time, notes “Bloomberg.”

“You’re playing the lottery when you’re using Siri,” says analyst Gene Munster, who conducted the study. “They have a plan to be more competitive, but it’s going to take a couple of years.”
