Apple had 30% of Japan smartphone sales in 2011

According to a report issued by MM Research — as noted by “AppleInsider” (http://www.appleinsider.com) — sales of the iPhone reached 7.25 million units last year in Japan making Apple the top smartphone vendor in the country.

Apple represented 30% of smartphone sales in Japan. Among all cell phones, including “feature” phones,” Apple took 17% of the market.

Though Apple was the leading hardware vendor, Google’s Android was the most popular mobile operating system platform among smartphones sold in Japan in 2011, notes “AppleInsider.” Google’s Android tallied 69%.
