Jonathan Ive up for ‘British Visionary Innovator’ honor

Apple design guru, Jonathan Ive, is up for the “British Visionary Innovator” honor, notes “Computerworld UK” (http://macte.ch/ikc8j). The competition, run by the Intellectual Property Office to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day 2012, aims to celebrate people who have achieved considerable success or developed innovative products, services or designs.

His competition includes: Tim Berners-Lee, credited as inventor of the World Wide Web; Michael Aldrich, who invented the origins of online shopping (Teleputer); James Goodfellow, who invented personal identification (PIN) technology and the cash machine (ATM); industrial designer Sir James Dyson; Sir Ian Wilmut, the scientist famous for his achievements in cloning Dolly the sheep; “Harry Potter” author JK Rowling; TV producer Simon Cowell of “American Idol” fame; and graffiti artist Banksy.
