BassDock is an all-purpose iPad dock/speaker system

The world has no shortage of iPad docks, but Scosche (http://www.scosche.com) has come up with something a bit different with its US$149.99 bassDock. The adjustable speaker dock tilts and rotates for both landscape and portrait viewing angles and features a 2.1 sound system with 40 mm stereo speakers and 10 watts of power.

The sound quality is good for such a small system. It’s no surround sound system, but if you’re watching a movie or playing a game on your Apple tablet, you’re not exactly using an HDTV for video either, are you? With that in mind, the bassDock audio does well enough for videos and games. For music, the audio is good in the middle though a bit too subdued on the upper and lower ends.

A remote would have been nice, but, alas, none was included. The bassDock sports a 3.5mm aux jack so you can connect other devices besides an iPad.

The bassDock does a great job of securing the iPad. You don’t have to worry about your Apple tablet slipping from it and getting damaged. And the Scosche device also — as you would expect — charges the iPad while it’s attached.

If you’re looking for an iPad dock that improves the audio quality for your media and which will hold the tablet at a more comfortable angle for use, the bassDock fills the bill.
