Apple now most valuable U.S. company

Apple has passed Exxon Mobil to become the most valuable U.S. company and the most publicly traded company in the world.

Apple stock shot up 8% at the open Wednesday to US$454.44 a share, one day after Apple reported the best quarterly results in history for a tech company. This pushed the company’s market value to $418 billion. Exxon has a market vaue of $416 billion.
