Silhouette 4.5 adds OpenColorIO color management capabilities

SilhouetteFX has released Silhouette 4.5 with new OpenColorIO (OCIO) color management. Originally developed by Sony Pictures Imageworks, OCIO manages color transformations and image display in a consistent manner across multiple graphics applications.

It’s geared towards motion-picture post-production, with an emphasis on visual effects and animation color pipelines, says Marco Paolini, partner at SilhouetteFX and a veteran visual effects artist. By providing a unified color environment, OCIO greatly simplifies the task of creating and validating multi-application color workflows, he adds.

Silhouette is a rotoscoping, paint, keying and visual effects suite utilized by visual effects facilities around the world. It’s compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 and higher. All Silhouette capabilities, including its roto and paint components, as well as its keying, effects and compositing features, are stereo enabled.

Silhouette 4.5 is a free feature release to current 4.x customers. New licenses start at US$995 and are available at http://www.silhouettefx.com/buy/home.php?cat=17 .
