Third Street Software has announced Sente 6.5 (http://www.thirdstreetsoftware.com/site/SenteForMac.html), an update to theacademic reference manager for Mac OS X. Version 6.5 includes an upgrade to the user interface and new features like color-coded notes and improved PDF import.

The new main window includes a multiple-line reference list, a highly customizable reference editor and a more functional notes editor. Sente 6.5 is a free upgrade for everyone with an existing Sente 6 license.

The new version also supports a new approach to formatting documents in Microsoft Word and Apple Pages, called “scan-in-place.” This new feature lets users work with formatted documents at each step of the writing process, rather than only at the final stages of writing. What’s more, Sente Word documents are now compatible with EndNote Word documents, so users can collaborate with people writing in Microsoft Word with EndNote.

Sente 6.5 requires Mac OS X 10.6 or higher. For new users the cost is US$129.95 for a standard license.
