‘WSJ’: Apple execs and the future of TV

According to “The Wall Street Journal” (http://macte.ch/ON2y3), Apple executives have discussed — well, in a vague sort of way — the company’s vision for the future of TV with media executives at several large companies. The article quotes unnamed “people familiar with the matter.”

Basically, the jist of the Apple-branded HDTV (often referred to as the iTV) is that it will:

° Respond to voice (think Siri) and motion commands.

° Will rely on wireless streaming technology to access shows, movies and other content.

° Allow users to stream video from mobile devices to their televisions (think AirPlay), without a set-top box.

“When the company plans to start selling such a device and whether it would receive traditional broadcast or cable signals remains unclear, said these people, who say Apple may change its plans,” adds the “Journal.”
