Samsung scores patent win against Apple

Samsung is set to resume selling its Galaxy tablet computer in Australia as early as Friday, after the company won a “rare legal victory in a long-running global patent war with Apple,” reports “Reuters” (http://macte.ch/U2YB6).

An Australian federal court unanimously decided to lift a preliminary injunction, imposed by a lower court, on sales of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1, the article adds. However, the court granted Apple a stay on lifting the sales ban until Friday afternoon.

Apple attorneys declined to comment after the ruling. However, the delay in lifting the temporary sales ban could give time for an appeal to be launched, notes “Reuters.”

Yesterday it was announced that Apple has filed a motion in a German court seeking to bar the German unit of Samsung Electronics from selling the Galaxy Tab 10.1N tablet in the European Union. The Duesseldorf regional court has scheduled a Dec. 22 hearing on the matter.
