Apple looking for execs with Web-based software backgrounds

Apple has been looking to recruit senior-level executives with backgrounds in Web-based software, reports “The Wall Street Journal” (http://macte.ch/TNBOm), quoting unnamed “people familiar with the matter.”

The article says Apple has approached at least one prominent Internet entrepreneur since at least earlier this year about a possible position. The company has also purportedly discussed its needs with recruiters.

The hunt for “cloud” execs comes on the heels of Apple’s launch of iTunes Match, a cloud feature that stores music tracks in the cloud and makes them available on any device with iTunes, and iCloud, a cloud-based storage and syncing service. Apple’s talent search “might suggest Apple’s still not sure it got its iCloud launch right” or could indicate “that its ambitions for the cloud extend even further than it has yet revealed,” opines “Channel Register” (http://macte.ch/8pZaZ).
