Feral Interactive says the atmospheric gangster adventure, Mafia II: Director’s Cut, will be released for the Mac (Mac OS X 10.6.8 or higher) on Dec. 1. It’s rated M for gamers over 17.

Developed by 2K Czech and published by 2K Games for game consoles and PC, Mafia II: Director’s Cut is a specially-created package that includes the standalone version of Mafia II and all of the game’s previously released add-on packs and downloadable content.

Here’s how the game is described: “Set in post-World War II America, Mafia II: Director’s Cut is an intense, tightly woven story that transports players into the dark and unforgiving world of organized crime. Players control Vito Scaletta, a Sicilian immigrant making a name for himself on the mean streets of Empire Bay. Together with his childhood friend Joe Barbaro, Vito quickly becomes a trusted member of a powerful mob family, but quickly discovers that the life of a wise guy is as dangerous as it is glamorous.

“If Vito is to rise from lowly foot soldier to made man, he must earn a reputation as an efficient enforcer, a skilled getaway driver and a reliable hit-man. The gripping narrative is interspersed with visceral action that combines brutal shoot-outs, hand-to-hand combat, and realistic driving that accurately recreates cars from the period. A sense of time and place is evoked throughout by a soundtrack of hit songs from the 1940s and 50s.

“Mafia II: Director’s Cut contains all the downloadable content and expansion packs for Mafia II, including arcade-style missions in The Betrayal of Jimmy and Jimmy’s Vendetta, where players take on the role of a contract killer. Players also get the chance to become Joe Barbaro in Joe’s Adventures, a separate eight-hour campaign which answers many of the questions that remain at the end of Mafia II: Director’s Cut.”

The Mac edition of Mafia II: Director’s Cut will retail in North America for US$39.99. It will also be available online for direct download from a variety of digital partner sites worldwide, including http://www.feralinteractive.com and the Mac App Store.
