Gaucho Software (http://www.gauchosoft.com) has introduced Seasonality Core 2, the latest version of the popular weather app for Mac OS X. The upgrade sports more than 35 new features including more detailed maps, additional graphs, and a new current conditions view. Plus, Seasonality Core makes it easier than ever to interact with weather on your Mac by taking advantage of gestures and full screen support in Mac OS X 10.7 (“Lion”).
The new maps in Seasonality Core 2 show amazing detail, while still being immediately responsive to user navigation, says Mike Piatek-Jimenez, CEO of Gaucho Software. The terrain changes every month of the year, allowing users to watch the foliage and snow coverage transform around the world.
The terrain resolution has also been increased with over two gigapixels composing the deepest zoom layer. What’s more, the radar and satellite images can now be animated, allowing the user to choose between a short loop to track a thunderstorm or a long loop to watch the movement of large scale weather systems.
The graphs are another area that has been modified in Seasonality Core 2. As in past versions of Seasonality, Seasonality Core 2 will save weather observations while it’s running. This enables users to see what the weather was like last week, last month, or even last year.
Seasonality Core 2 adds seven-day forecasts to graphs, so you can picture how the weather is expected to change hour by hour. Additionally, new graphs are available for liquid precipitation, snowfall, cloud cover, and even wave height in supported locations. Seasonality Core 2 gathers data from the U.S. National Weather Service as well as Gaucho Software’s own weather servers. Our advanced weather servers process weather data from all the best sources, and provides custom radar and satellite imagery, international forecast data, and location data for thousands of users around the globe.
Seasonality Core requires Mac OS X 10.6 or later and is available at the Mac App Store for US$24.99. Existing Seasonality users can upgrade for free.
