According to the latest market share survey from NetMarketShare (http://www.netmarketshare.com), the market share for Mac OS X, Safari and iOS all rose last month.

According to the report, among desktop operating systems, Mac OS X had 6.45% of the global market share in September compared to 6.03% in August (that’s global market share; in the US it’s almost 10%). This is the highest percentage ever for Mac OS X. Windows remains dominant with 92.44% as of September. That’s down from 92.90% in August.

When it comes to browsers, Safari had 5.02% in September. Internet Explorer had 54.39%, Firefox had 22.48% and Chrome had 16.20%. That compares to, respectively, August percentages of 4.64%, 55,31%, 22.57% and 15.51%, respectively, for the browsers.

The iOS’s market share also rose in September, according to NetMarketShare. It had 54.65%, compared to 18.52% for Java ME, 16.26% for Android, 6.12% for Symbian and 3.29% for Blackberry. That compares to 53.04%, 20.57%, 15.98%, 6.21% and 3.33%, respectively, in August.

NetMarketShares’ monthly surveys don’t measure market share in terms of computer systems sold. Instead they sample data from visitors to some 40,000 web sites operated by their clients. And note that NetMarketShare’s numbers don’t equate to sales.
