The first full week of October may signal fall in some parts of the work, but in the MUG world, things start heating up, as shown by this week’s “MUG Calendar.”

“Macworld” Senior Editor Christopher Breen will discuss Mac OS X 10.7 (“Lion”) and iOS 5 at a California group, while Jason O’Grady will also discuss iOS 5, but at a Pennsylvania group. Other topics on this week’s listing include cloud computing, the iPad 2, email, iPhoto, iMovie, assistive technologies for iOS 5, backing up, Thunderbolt and more.

“The MUG Event Calendar” can be found at The MUG Center (http://www.mugcenter.com), an online resource for Mac User Groups. MUGs are good places for making new friends in the Mac community, improving your computing skills, finding solutions to technical problems, and perhaps locating a good deal on used hardware. For more info on MUGs, and to find the location of the one nearest you, go to Apple’s MUG page (http://www.apple.com/usergroups/).
