Buffalo Technology (http://www.buffalotech.com) has announced the new MiniStation Extreme (pictured) and DriveStation Axis Velocity storage solutions. They’re the latest additions to Buffalo’s portfolio of USB 3.0 storage solutions (which will only run at USB 2.0 speeds on the Mac because Apple isn’t yet supporting USB 3.0).

The new MiniStation Extreme comes in a rugged, lightweight package and is equipped with a wrap-around USB cable, a rubberized base, shock protection elements and hardware encryption. The DriveStation Axis Velocity is an external hard drive designed for simple, secure storage and backup. It’s equipped with a 7200 RPM hard drive; optional 256-bit AES hardware encryption offers government-grade protection

Both models will be available next month. The MiniStation Extreme will have an estimated street price of US$94.99 for the 500GB model and $129.99 for the 1TB version. The DriveStation Axis Velocity will go for an estimated street price of $94.99 for the 1TB model, $134.99 for the 2TB version, and $179.99 for the 3TB edition.
