Sumitomo Electric Industries (http://www.sei.co.jp) has commenced sample shipments of Thunderbolt electrical cables. These cables are scheduled to be marketed in October of this year.

Thunderbolt is a new high-speed computer connection technology developed by Intel — in cooperation with Apple — that provides for data rates of 10Gbps and supports both PCI Express and DisplayPort with its dual-protocol solution. This technology is utilized in Thunderbolt cables that contain high-speed signal processing circuits in their connectors.

Sumitomo has commenced sample shipments of the Thunderbolt electrical cables. These cables are scheduled to be used for a demonstration at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) to be held through Sept. 16.
