Insider Software (http://www.insidersoftware.com/) has announced FontAgent Pro Server 5, an update to its solution for organizing, optimizing, distributing and tracking an organization’s fonts.

The V5 release is a J2EE server application. Additionally, the upgrade includes new license-management, directory services and browser-based real-time usage reports. FontAgent Pro 5’s J2EE-based, multi-threaded, multi-processor aware architecture is designed for speed to provide even faster synchronization with networked client users.

FontAgent Pro Server runs on a networked Mac Pro, Mac mini or Xserve with 1GB of memory and 130MB of disk space running Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later. It doesn’t require dedicated server hardware and permits administrators to fine-tune performance to compensate for varying speeds on enterprise networks. The new release also includes a one-click installer for server and J2EE software; supports PostScript Type 1, OpenType, dfont, and Mac and Windows TrueType font formats; and supports both Mac and Windows users.

FontAgent Pro Server is priced at US$1,695. Each user connecting to the server requires a licensed version of the FontAgent Pro connected client, whose suggested price is $129.95 per seat. Volume license pricing is available on request.
