iCloud Communications drops lawsuit, changes name

iCloud Communications, an Arizona company, that sued Apple over the iCloud moniker has dropped the lawsuit and changed its name, reports “CNET” (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-20102436-37/arizona-company-drops-icloud-suit-changes-name/).

The company alleged in a lawsuit filed in June that the name of Apple’s online storage service copied its name and caused confusion over competing products. Now it’s withdrawn its claim, says “CNET.”

However, the voice-over-IP provider has filed a notice of voluntary dismissal with the U.S. District Court of Arizona that precludes the claim from being refiled. The company also seems to have changed its name to Clear Digital Communications.

“CNET” says a Facebook page for a company called Clear Digital Communications lists the same address and contact information as an iCloud Communications Facebook page, as well as a wall post from August 12 that says, “iCloud is now Clear Digital Communications.”
