The BTIG (http://www.btigresearch.com) research group says a new study — as reported by “AllThingsD” (http://macte.ch/LYOjn) — show that the iPhone is Verizon’s top-selling handset five months after the Apple smartphone came to the carrier.

Of the Verizon stores surveyed by BTIG, 51% said the iPhone was their top-seller. An additional 38% said it was tied for first with a rival Android device, typically the Samsung Droid Charge or the HTC Thunderbolt.

At AT&T stores, the iPhone was even more dominant; 65% of them named it as their top selling phone. Another 31% said the top seller was an Android device.

In all, 58% of the stores BTIG called named the iPhone as their strongest selling phone. An additional 20% said it shared that honor with a competing device.
