Cerwin-Vega! (http://www.cerwin-vega.com/) has announced the XD3 Powered Desktop Speaker, a compact desktop speaker system.

Initially available in June at all U.S.-based Best Buy retail and online outlets, the XD3 features self-powered cabinets in a master/slave configuration with low noise and 15-watt amplifiers. The integrated three-inch woofer and three-quarter inch tweeter are fed via passive crossovers, so that the proper frequencies are represented in each driver for a smooth transition from mid-range to high frequency, according to the folks at Cerwin-Vega!.

The XD3 cabinets are 8 x 5.5 x 6.5 inches. Each cabinet is made from wood and the cabinets are magnetically shielded to maximize speaker placement options near computer monitors.

The XD3 was also designed to be a flexible desktop media device by offering external inputs. An one-eighth inch stereo auxiliary input has been provided to interface with other portable and personal platforms such as MP3 players, smartphones and other media sources. There’s also a headphone jack and a front panel power switch. Each cabinet weighs 6.5 pounds.
