Apple has released iBooks 1.3 (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ibooks/id364709193?mt=8#), an update of its free reading app for iOS devices.

iBooks includes the iBookstore, where you can download the latest books or your favorite classics. You can browse your library on a beautiful bookshelf, tap a book to open it, flip through pages with a swipe or a tap, and bookmark or add notes to your favorite passages.

Version 1.3 can “Help your children learn to read with the new read-aloud feature included in select children’s books from the iBookstore,” says Apple. It’s a 15.3MB download.
