Lagente has introduced Clippings for Mac OS X (10.6.6 or later), a note pad with security and encryption features. It’s available for a limited time for US$0.99 at the Mac App store in the Productivity category. The regular price is $9.99.

Clippings (http://macte.ch/GaXn2) offers features such as import and export, encryption, a document format, highlighting features, QuickSearch, full search, word and character count and more. Each page is stored in the document bundle as a separate RTFD file and can be accessed directly if required, without launching Clippings.

Even encrypted pages can be accessed this way and be re-imported into a new Clippings file if you have the password. And don’t forget that password, because if you do, the AES-128-encrypted pages can’t be cracked, according to the folks at Lagente.
