Strata (http://www.strata.com) has released Strata Foto 3D SE on the Mac App Store for US$49.99. The app uses digital images of real-world objects to create 3D models.
Using any digital camera, a series of photographs are taken from different angles surrounding an object to be modeled. The photos are then imported into Strata Foto 3D SE, where they’re masked and transformed into a fully textured digital 3D model.
Powered by patented camera technology developed by Canon, Foto 3D SE provides automated masking tools, camera and lens correction technology, interactive model adjustment and a model creation wizard designed to simplify the creation process. When a model is complete, it can be exported for use in Strata Design 3D SE or CX, Strata Live 3D, Adobe Photoshop Extended, 3D PDF documents, or virtually any 3D software package.
