DevonTechnologies updates products

DevonTechnologies says all editions of its information manager, DevonThink, and the note-taking application, DevonNote, are now available in version 2.0.9. DevonNote, EasyFind 4.7.1, and XMenu 1.9.2 are now also available on the Mac App Store, and DevonThinkTo Go 1.1 has been submitted to the iOS App Store for review.

Version 2.0.9 of all editions of DevonThinkand DevonNote brings, first of all, an updated conduit for DevonThinkTo Go, fixing a number of bugs. The older conduit e.g. transferred, accidentally, only the first 1KB of data of indexed text so that larger documents were not completely searchable, and could crash when sending very large files.

In addition DevonThinkPro Office 2.0.9 allows to properly archive mailboxes from any  supported email client skipping messages archived earlier. This makes it possible to regularly “sync” a mailbox with the archive in DevonThink to keep the archive up-to-date.

DevonThinkPro and up can rebuild the global inbox database, too, and allow renaming or moving database packages even when the database is open. The Sorter has been improved and is more reliable now, says Eric Böhnisch-Volkmann, DevonTechnologies’ president. All editions of DevonThinkfeature a new command for moving the contents of an indexed group to the linked folder in the file system and install the Dashboard widgets from the Install Add-Ons window.

Both DevonThinkand DevonNote 2.0.9 insert the URL of the frontmost window, e.g. from Safari, when taking a new note, and enable text replacements on Mac OS X 10.6. DevonTechnologies has also sped up classifying, see also, searching, summarizing, and the concordance (DevonThinkPro and up only) and made them more accurate. A number of bugs and glitches has been fixed, too.

DevonTechnologies has also submitted DevonThinkTo Go 1.1 to the iOS App Store for review. The new version fixes a large number of bugs and glitches. The company has also added support for .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx files, as well as unknown file types.

Finally, DevonTechnologies has updated EasyFind to version 4.7.1 and XMenu to version 1.9.2 and made them available on the Mac App Store. The new version of EasyFind understands ‘traditional’ wildcards (again) when searching for file names and uses an updated internal service for communication with DevonThinkPro (and up), and supports the simple ‘*’ operators in phrases.

All applications require Mac OS X 10.5 or later and can be downloaded as free trial versions from http://www.devon-technologies.com . DevonThinkand DevonNote can be test-driven for free for 150 hours of non-continuous runtime until they need to be properly licensed.

DevonThinkProfessional Office sells for US$149.95, DevonThinkProfessional for $79.95, DevonThinkPersonal for $49.95, and DevonNote for $24.95 in DevonTechnologies’ online shop. DevonThinkPro Office and DevonThinkPro are also available bundled with the Internet research agent DEVONagent. DevonNote can also be purchased on the Mac App Store for $24.99.

Users who purchased DevonThinkPersonal, Pro, Pro Office or DevonNote 1.x on or after July 1, 2008, are eligible for free upgrades. Users who have purchased before the grace period are eligible for upgrade prices. In addition, users of DevonNote now can upgrade to DevonThinkfor just the price difference.
