Verizon Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo hinted at a new Verizon iPhone and usage-based pricing during a webcast of an investor conference — as reported by “Reuters” (http://macte.ch/eCTJV).

He didn’t talk about a release date for a new iPhone. However, Apple has normally updated its smartphone in the summer. That’s when the iPhone 5 is expected — and that would match Verizon Wireless’ timeline on its new data plans.

Verizon Wireless allows unlimited Web surfing for US$30 a month for users of its version of the iPhone. But this is expected to change in the coming months, according to “Reuters.”
