Pad Protector is unassuming, well-priced iPad case

Newer Technology (http://www.newertech.com)’s Pad Protector is a slim, light (7.8 ounces) leather folio/carrying case for the iPad. It looks good and does its job well, though, feature-wise, there’s not a lot to differentiate it from a gazillion other iPad cases out there.

On the other hand, it’s only US$24.95 and comes with a bonus screen protector, so it’s a good buy. I must offer my usual caveat regarding screen protectors: I can never apply ’em without leaving air bubbles. But you may be better at the job than me.

The Pad Protector — available in a choice of red or black leather — features a leather cover that discreetly fastens with the use of slimline magnets. Inside, smooth suede leather provides a scratch-free environment for your Apple tablet. A top loading, full-framed holder keeps the iPad in place while allowing complete access to all ports and controls.

Another nice touch is the magnetized flap that acts like a “kickstand,” so the iPad can be positioned for optimum viewing and typing comfort. The Pad Protector weighs 7.8 ounces and includes a bonus screen protector.

The nutshell: the Pad Protector does its job well and is reasonably priced. There’s nothing not to like about it. But when you’ve seen as many iPad cases as I have, it takes something truly unique to knock your socks off.
