955 Dreams has announced The History of Jazz, an interactive timeline for the iPad. The US$9.99 app features the legends of Jazz and provides an understanding of the various genres in Jazz complete with album previews and detailed biographies for each artist.

Oceanhouse Media has released two new omBooks on the App Store: “The Berenstain Bears Do Their Best” for $2.99 and “Little Critter’s The New Baby” for $1.99. The former tells the story of Papa Bear helping Brother and Sister Bear make their very own kite. The latter has Little Critter getting used to a new baby sister.

Power App has introduced SysMoni 1.0 for the iPhone and iPod touch. The $0.99 app provides complete activity, system, and hardware monitoring. Similar in function to the Mac OS X Activity Monitor application, SysMoni provides real-time information about: currently running processes, current OS, CPU usage, IP addresses, disk capacity and usage, memory capacity and usage, bus speed and CPU speed. The app provides a detailed view of vital statistics and parameters normally hidden from the user.

Michael Ryssen has unleashed Satellite Assault 1.0 for iOS. Your goal in the $1.99 game is to survive in a deadly asteroid field by creating chain reactions to destroy them. The more you use your laser, the weaker your shield will be.

AppAnnex has rolled out Speed Tracker. The $1.99 app combines a GPS, speedometer and trip computer into one utility.

Pepper.pk has unveiled Skitrix: The Word Game for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Representing a new spin on the word game genre, the $0.99 app uses a falling letter structure to challenge players to come up with three to seven letter words. Players must put together words between three and seven letters long with these falling blocks in order to make portions of a row or column disappear and keep the game’s grid from completely filling up.

Mirial (http://www.mirial.com) is offering what it says is first professional video conferencing client for Apple iOS devices, supporting both SIP and H.323 standards, featuring high-quality video conferencing. The software is available today for the iPhone 4 and iPod touch (fourth gen) and in a few weeks for the iPhone 3GS and iPad.

IK Multimedia has created AmpliTube Fender for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. It’s a $14.99 tone guitar rig app with built-in recording studios offering the Fender tone designed and developed in cooperation with Fender.

Hashsoft has presented Call Snooze 1.0 for iOS devices. The free app helps people to remember to return a call to their loved ones. The user may either return a call to a list of favorite contacts, or access the address book for full contact list.

NewspaperDirect has updated its PressReader app for iPad. Version 2.2 is compatible with iOS 4.2, sports a new look, and incorporates user requests, including faster page navigation; smoother operation; and simplified downloading and auto-delivery of newspaper subscription. PressReader is a free download. Most individual newspapers and magazines can then be purchased for $0.99 per issue, or downloaded in conjunction with a paid subscription on PressDisplay.com.

Boinx Software has announced You Gotta See This! 1.2, an update of the $1.99 panography photo app for the iPhone. Version 1.2 amplifies usability with increased speed and enhanced rendering capabilities.
