Sophiestication Software’s CoverSutra (http://www.sophiestication.com/coversutra/), an iTunes extender for Mac OS X has been updated to version 2.5. The upgrade will be available for US$4.99 on the Mac App Store when it launches on Thursday, Jan. 6.

CoverSutra 2.5 adds bigger Desktop Album Cases (up to 256 pixels), a new keyboard bezel display style, an option to let CoverSutra automatically start and quit with iTunes, along with localizations in German, Italian, Russian, Spain, French, Dutch, Japanese, and Chinese. It requires Mac OS X 10.6.6 or later.

CoverSutra lets you control iTunes without having to leave the currently active application. The software does this through the use of global keyboard shortcuts, information bezels and a transparent floating window. In addition, CoverSutra has integrated support for Last.fm, a social music recommendation service.

A downloadable demo of CoverSutra 2.2 is available now for Mac OS X 10.4 or later. It can be purchased for US$19.95. Version 2.2 is a free upgrade to registered users of any previous version of CoverSutra.
