Survey looks at the tablet market — and the iPad’s dominance

With the tablet market shaping up to be the largest consumer tech battle of 2011, shopping site VoucherCodes.co.uk has commissioned the largest consumer survey to date to gain insights into Apple’s dominance and who can be the David to their Goliath.

The results show that while dominant, Apple has a few weak spots along with some interesting insights into what people want from a Tablet Device. Highlights of the VoucherCodes survey include:

° Dell and RIM have the largest amount of public trust in their tablet after Apple.

° For just an US$160 saving, over a third of the market would move away from Apple.

° Every age demographic indicated they wanted the device most for instant access to the web, suggesting clever tie ups with networks could win the battle outright.

° Older demographics indicated the highest interest in purchasing a tablet device.

° Women value price whereas men value breadth and quality of features as the factors most likely to influence their purchase of a tablet device.

Survey results are based on 3,000 people questioned between Oct. 15-18 by an independent polling company.
