SmartBackup update for Mac OS X gets speed boost

Freeridecoding has updated SmartBackup (http://freeridecoding.com/smartbackup), a Mac OS X app for lightweight backups, to version 3.1. The upgrade boasts faster analyzing due to optimization of the sync engine.


There’s also a new option to accelerate analyzing by only comparing the modification date . Additionally, SmartBackup 3.1 offers improved support for WebDAV and improved handling of locked files during archiving and purging.

SmartBackup performs backups to hard drives, network sharepoints, webDAV, USB sticks and iPods. It supports configuration via Spotlight “saved searches,” archiving of deleted or changed items, file exclusion, handling of multiple backup sets, one-click restore and automation using iCal, Automator or shellscripts.

A home single license is priced at US$27. A Family Pack option (five installations) is available for $58, and business licenses start at $40. Site licenses and educational discounts are available. A demo is available for download.
