NBC Universal Chief Executive Jeff Zucker says the network isn’t likely to follow rivals to make its TV shows available for new US$0.99 rental service unveiled earlier this month in conjunction with the new Apple TV, reports “Reuters” (http://www.reuters.com/article/idCNN2219136720100922).

“We do not think 99 cents is the right price point for our content. … We thought it would devalue our content,” Zucker said at a Goldman Sachs investor conference. And he noted that NBC shows are already available for $1.99 for download at iTunes.

The new $99 Apple TV was introduced on Sept. 1 and should ship within the next 2-4 weeks. With it you rent a TV episode for $0.99, and you have up to 30 days to start watching and then 48 hours to finish it — or watch multiple times.
