Taiwanese carriers don’t have nearly enough iPhone 4s for pre-orders

Fans in Taiwan “who showered Apple with 200,000 pre-orders while the company’s carrier partners expect about one-quarter that number will be available there by year’s end,” reports “iPhonetouch.Blorge” (http://iphonetouch.blorge.com/2010/09/17/apple-greets-200k-iphone-4-pre-orders-with-100-units/).

Although customers in the country ordered that many units, Apple’s three carrier partners — Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, Far EasTone — only had 1,800 units on hand when the iPhone 4 went on sale. What’s more the carriers only expect 45,000 to 50,000 units will be allocated to Taiwan by the end of the calendar year, adds “iPhonetouch.Blorge.”
