GoSolarUSA (http://www.GoSolarUSA.com) President Tyson Rohde said today that “staggering” sales figures for Apple’s iPod touch prompted the company’s option agreement with Chinese firm Yosion for the Apple Peel 520.

Yosion is the developer of the Apple Peel 520, a wireless device that when used with the iPod Touch functions as a protective skin that adds mobile voice and text messaging capabilities to the touch-screen media player. The new technology represents a more affordable alternative to purchasing Apple’s costlier iPhone, Rohde says.

During an online presentation earlier this month, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said that the company has sold 275 million iPods since the device’s release. He unveiled a new, slimmer version of the touch featuring the same 24-bit Retina display as the company’s iPhone 4 and proclaimed it to be the “number one portable game player in the world.”
