Don’t expect a revamped Apple TV to be a hit of iPad proportions

Apple CEO Steve Jobs doesn’t expect any upcoming Apple TV refresh to be a hit of iPad proportions, because most consumers aren’t ready to cancel their cable TV or stream content from iTunes, reports Peter Burrows of “Bloomberg Businessweek” (http://macosg.me/2/s0).

Apple will hold a special media event on Wednesday, Sept. 1, but “look for CEO Steve Jobs to focus on the ability for customers to watch their favorite TV shows and movies on their iPads, iPhones, and iPod touches,” the article adds, quoting a “person familiar with the plan.” Burrows says that company will announce that customers can rent many TV shows for 99 cents. Also, look for Jobs to show off a new iPod touch that features a high-resolution screen like the one in the iPhone 4.
