Do you return from vacation and end up showing folks the pictures on your iPhone? You end up tell the same stories, the same amusing anecdotes to each person. Well, if you don’t like repeating yourself, there’s an app for that, and it’s called SonicPics. It’s available for US$2.99 at the Apple App Store (http://www.itunes.com/appstore/).

SonicPics provides a way to make narrated slideshows from pictures you have on the phone. It converts your static images into an m4v video. For most, having a slideshow on our phone is of limited use. This is where SonicPics shines. It allows you to share your video by uploading it to YouTube, emailing it, or copying it to your computer over Wi-Fi. All three methods worked flawlessly.

The workflow is logical and easy. Click the plus button, and create a new project. Click the add button and pick the photos that you want to include. You have three options for sound quality (good, better, and best). Hit the record button and flick through the images as you narrate. When you’re done, hit stop. At this point you have options to play, delete or share.

The only downside I saw was that the orientation was fixed. Turning the phone had no effect on the playback. This app could be used for both personal and business purposes. The ability to create narrated slideshows and easily share them is definitely worth the three buck admission.
