Senator writes Jobs about iPhone 4 problems

Democratic New York Senator Charles Schumer has written an open letter to Apple CEO Steve Jobs about the iPhone 4 antenna issues. He says the company’s current solutions are “insufficient” and wants Apple to provide a free fix for consumers, reports “AppleInsider” (http://www.appleinsider.com).

The U.S. senator said he wants Apple to explain in writing to consumers the true cause of poor reception with the iPhone 4 with regards to its antenna/reception problems. Schumer isn’t happy with Apple’s solutions so far, including an in-the-works software fix that will provide a cosmetic change on how signal bars are reported to the suggestion to buy a case to cover the handset’s external metal antennas.

He may be right. But it seems the senator is jumping on a controversial tech issue for a little free publicity.
