People who love to read and share their favorite books with friends now have a new iPhone app to help them recall each book they’ve read, enter notes on what they liked about each one, jot down the titles they’d like to read, and share favorites with friends by Facebook or email. BookLover, by Electric Pocket (US$0.99) also automatically fetches the book cover and, in many cases, a synopsis of each book in the reader’s collection or on their wish list.
Sunstorm Interactive has announced Sundae Maker 1.0, an US$0.99 app for iPhone and iPod touch users. It allows the user to select a cone, dish, or bowl, and then build their sundae. There are a wide assortment of different flavors of ice cream, syrups, goodies, and decorations. Their creation completed, the gourmand may eat it, save it, or email it to a friend. Expansion packs of hundreds more ingredients are available.
BitCycle has introduced Crossnerd 1.0, a a free puzzle game for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. At each level the player is presented with a Scrabble style crossword in which some of the letters have swapped places, and the goal is to swap them back again.
vBookz is a new $4.99 iPhone/iPod app that reads books aloud to you. With it you can purportedly enjoy over 24,000 titles without ever having to watch the screen. vBookz is not “books on tape,” but is a live text-to-speech generator with no need for conversion nor stored books files.
Array Networks, which specializes in secure application delivery, has launched the free DesktopDirect iPad application, which enables full remote desktop access for enterprise users. Businesses can now provide employees with direct access to their work computers and all Windows applications via the iPad, without risking data leakage.
Press Start has announced 4Notes 1.1, an update to their $4.99 note taking app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. It features search, improved note categories, favorites, and the ability to email your notes from within the application. Version 1.1 includes support for the iPad and allows users to sync notes between the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
iQapps has debuted Trip Journal 5.0 for the iPhone iPhone, with full Facebook integration to share vacations in real-time with friends and colleagues from anywhere in the world. Trip Journal 5.0 utilizes iPhone’s GPS features to geographically mark photos, media, journal entries and more on an interactive map, which are all instantly uploaded and viewable to Facebook friends. Version 5.0 is a free upgrade for registered users; for new users the cost is $0.99 for a limited time (the price is regularly $2.99).
Xisen Science Technology has released Magic Multilingual Dictionary 2.0 for iPhone and iPod touch. The $24.99 app contains over 900,000 words, phrases, abbreviations, place names, proper names and even archaic terms.
Daniel Wetzel has introduced Paper Pile 1.2.1 for the iPad. The app creates virtual newspapers looking almost exactly as their printed prototypes. Paper Pile uses news feed subscriptions to compose the user’s personal newspaper. Paper Pile 1.2.1 is priced at $2.99, but will be available for the special price of $1.99 from May, 28 thru June 6.
Kode80 LLC has unleashed HoloToy 1.05, the fifth update to its 3D motion tracking hologram technology app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The $0.99 app works by distorting the 3D scenes displayed on screen in a way our brains would expect based on the current angle of the device. It presents a believable 3D scene that appears to extend right into the device itself. HoloToy 1.05 introduces a brand new game, hidden achievements and a community news section.
