The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and have rolled out a free driver license practice test application for the iPad and iPhone.

And the Utah Department of Public Safety Driver License Division has released one of the nation’s first government applications developed specifically for the iPad. The free Utah Driver License Practice Exam app is an interactive 15-question practice test designed to aid those preparing to receive a driver’s license in the state of Utah. It’s also available for the iPhone.
ABBYY is offering lite, free versions of its Business Card Reader app for the iPhone. It’s a business tool that transfers contact data from business cards directly to the smartphone’s address book by using the device’s camera and ABBYY’s text recognition technology.

Meanwhile, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet have released an interactive (and also free) app for the iPhone, iTouch, and the recently launched iPad. The new “Kentucky Driver License Practice Test” application provides a way to help study for the Commonwealth’s written permit exam.

Ivan Karpan and Evgeniy Lebed have announced GlobeConvert Pro 1.0, an international currency and units converter for the iPad based on their free iPhone app of the same name. GlobeConvert Pro features 11 different categories: area, currency, energy, length, power, pressure, speed, temperature, time, volume and weight. The currency converter contains 190-plus different currencies, and updates monetary exchange rates minute to minute. The iPad version is $0.99.

Randall-Reilly, a business media and information company focused on trucking and construction, has debuted Truck Stop Coupons, a free iPhone app that lets truckers and other motorists locate, clip, print and share coupons from more than 5,000 truck stops across America.

MobiTV has released MobiTV for the iPhone. The app gives users live sports, breaking news and entertainment with enhanced discoverability and interactive technologies, the first in a wave of new mobile media features coming from the company. Additionally, MobiTV for iPhone includes a user interface and experience that purportedly simplifies the delivery and consumption of personal, relevant and compelling media while providing a streamlined path for discovery of content by subscribers. Consumers can use the in-app purchasing feature to download an additional content package that includes eight channels of live programming from marquee brands, over 30 channels of on-demand TV that feature over 150 titles of full-length programming across news, entertainment, children’s and sports genres. The additional content package is available in one, three and six month subscriptions for $9.99, $24.99, and $44.99, respectively.

Almog Design has unveiled US Gov.Index 1.0.1 for iPhone and iPod touch users looking for a better way to find government information. The $0.99 app is an alphabetical directory, providing access to thousands of U.S. government agencies and departments. Features include access and direct connection to any web site of the user’s choice.

Dracoders has unleashed Racing Mania 1.0 for iPhone and iPod touch users. The $1.99 puts users behind the wheel of their own micro machine built for speed on 15 track challenges. has rolled out Stencils App Modeller 1.1 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. The $9.99 app lets users develop app prototypes and mockups, right on their iDevices and without any special skills. Creations can be shared and downloaded by others for testing and feedback, or sent for development.

Rega Interactive has produced RegaWordJam2 version 2.0 for iPhone and iPod touch users. The $1.99 app provides an interactive way for users to improve their minds while having fun reassembling scrambled words.

Software start-up Lecere Corp. ( has announced that it will begin a pilot project on April 30 to evaluate its initial SaaS Point of Sales offering. The iPad will be used as the primary order entry device in the pilot project.

Portable Arts has announced BloXAttack 1.01 for the iPad. The $0.99 app offers a head-to-heac challenge that involves players trying to clear out their blocks faster than their opponent can clear his/hers. Blocks are controlled by players selecting new pieces that appear on opponents play field.

ProRattaFactor has launched Ace Omicron 1.1, an update to their $2.99 survival shooter for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.The new version adds global leader boards.
