Zevrix Solutions has released Package Central 1.0 (http://zevrix.com/PackageCentral.php), a new document packaging workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign. Originally developed for a major publisher in the United States, the software automates InDesign packaging by processing files from hotfolders.

It offloads packaging to a central system leaving operator workstations free from the output process. Under Package Central workflow, production artists, prepress operators and designers simply submit files to hotfolders that reside on the network. Package Central automatically collects the files from its station using hotfolder settings, and will auto-activate document fonts as well.

Package Central runs on a dedicated machine and watches hotfolders linked to its workflow settings. The software performs all its tasks automatically and can run unattended. Files can be submitted from both Mac and PC computers.

Package Central can be purchased for US$499.95. A demo is available for download. Package Central runs on Mac OS X 10.4.2 and higher, and works with Adobe InDesign CS-CS4.
