Synology America Corp. (http://www.synology.com) has launched the
two-bay DiskStation DS210j in North America, a new cross-over NAS for
home and small business users. It’s designed to be the central hub of
the home or office digital network.

“With the DiskStation DS210j we’re able to offer Synology customers
more power and functionality than they have ever had at this price,”
says Doug Self, product specialist at Synology America Corp. “The
DiskStation DS210j allows even entry-level businesses an affordable
solution for reliable centralized data protection, file sharing
across a network, email, web and print server hosting and even a
surveillance system without having a full-time IT staff person on
board to manage it or a big IT budget.”

The DiskStation DS210j is one of Synology’s new designs that are
cable-less, which means that installation of hard drives is
effortless, he says. Each bay is capable of supporting up to 2TB HDDs
(up to 4TB total). The design of the DiskStation DS210j includes
scheduled power on and off, which not only preserves power usage but
also helps to promote and extended hard drive life.
Synology’s DiskStation Manager 2.2 (DSM 2.2) is included with the
DiskStation DS210j. DSM 2.2, provides multiple integrated features
for sharing, streaming and securing data. It also has integrated
automated backup features.

Ensuring compatibility and interoperability between the DiskStation
DS210j and a wide range of DNLA-certified devices, the DLNA compliant
Media Server lets you share and stream devices such as iPods, Sony
PS3 and X-Box. Photo Station 3, and the built-in PHP + MySQL Web
Station offers a way to host web sites and share photos remotely.
With the integrated Surveillance Station 3, you can set up an office
surveillance station with IP cameras.

The DiskStation DS210j has support for Apple’s Time Machine and two
iPhone applications; DS audio & DS photo. It’s compatible with Mac,
Windows and Linux computer systems.
