Thomson Reuters has released EndNote X3 for Mac
OS X (http://www.endnote.com), an update of the
bibliographic management software that includes
EndNote Web and is used by researchers,
librarians and students worldwide. It costs
US$299.95, though student and multi-user
discounts are available.
EndNote X3 increases productivity for researchers
by delivering new ways to group references and
find full text when off campus, expanding
AppleScript support for key EndNote tasks,
offering new composite styles popular with
chemistry journals, and more, says Keith
MacGregor, executive vice president at Thomson
Reuters. For instance, it expands the existing
AppleScripts so users can enhance searches, add
references to groups and match existing EndNote
references with local PDF files using DOI and
PMCID unique identifier data.
A detailed dictionary and documentation help
users to automate these repetitive tasks. Other
features include the ability to:
° Create multiple bibliographies within a Word document;
° Use composite styles — popular with chemistry
journals — that group citations by number and
letter;
° Organize references easily with new groups
containing both custom and smart groups;
° Find more full Text with EZProxy; you can
access online resources when off-campus;
° Collaborate using EndNote Web, which is now included with EndNote;
° Organize personal publication lists for the
ResearcherID author community using EndNote Web.
