Audio-Technica introduces new noise-canceling headphones

Audio-Technica ( has introduced its
ATH-ANC7b QuietPoint active noise-cancelling over-ear headphones,
which, according to the company, have the same 85 percent
noise-cancellation but incorporate a number of improvements from the
previous model to offer even better sound quality, comfort and

The earcups have been redesigned for greater comfort, and feature
cushioned padding and a shape that fits over any ear. In addition,
the ATH-ANC7b is supplied with two 5.2-foot and 3.3-foot detachable
cables, and offers easier battery access.

The ATH-ANC7b employs QuietPoint active noise-cancellation
technology. A miniature microphone in each earcup detects
environmental noise, and a corresponding sound-cancelling signal is
applied. The headphones can be used with the iPod, iPhone, portable
music and DVD players, laptop computers, in-flight entertainment
systems and other devices.

The ATH-ANC7b utilizes large-aperture 40 mm neodymium-magnet drivers
for a 10-25,000 Hz frequency response. The headphones have 109 dB

The headphones fold flat for storage and come with an airline adapter
for connection to in-flight entertainment systems, as well as a
carrying case.

The Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7b QuietPoint active noise-cancelling
headphones will be available in August at a suggested retail price of
US$219.95. They will be available online or in stores at the Apple
Store, Electronics Expo and other Audio-Technica authorized dealers.
