REALbasic 2008 Release 1 with Introspection Support

REAL Software Announces REALbasic 2008 Release 1; Now Supports Introspection

Development language now supports Introspection; Delivering on the most
requested enhancement from users

AUSTIN, Texas, USA (January 15, 2008) — REAL Software, maker of REALbasic,
a cross-platform development environment for Windows, Mac and Linux
developers, will announce REALbasic 2008 Release 1 at the Macworld Expo in
San Francisco. The latest version will include introspection which has been
the most highly requested feature from the user community in recent years.

“Adding introspection to our object-oriented language provides developers
with a powerful tool,” stated Geoff Perlman, President and CEO of REAL
Software. “With this new capability our users will be more productive and
their applications will be more dynamic and adaptable.”

In computer programming, introspection refers to the ability to examine
something (an object) to determine what it is, what it knows, and what it
is capable of doing. Introspection gives programmers a great deal of
flexibility and control. This technology enables the development of
powerful dynamic programming features like serialization of object storing,
remote method invocation for data sharing and data binding for consistency
when data values change.

“Long requested by developers, introspection is a powerful addition to the
REALbasic language,” commented Charles Yeomans, a software developer and
REALbasic user. “I write a lot of database-related code, and introspection
is going to make my job easier.”

The release will also contain 39 minor improvements and two additional
language features.
