WSJ: ‘Cingular to provide service for Apple phone’

A story on The Wall Street Journal Web site (subscription required) cites unnamed sources familiar with the situation that Cingular Wireless is expected to provide wireless service for a new cellular phone from Apple, notes MarketWatch. The new phone and service could be announced as early as today, and Gene Munster, a Piper Jaffray analyst, said “reports from Taiwan-based manufacturers indicate that Apple is ramping up to produce as many as 12 million iPhones during the first half of 2007.”
