HOBO U10: Home Energy Usage Temperature Logger Kit

ONSET UNVEILS DATA LOGGER KIT FOR REDUCING HOME ENERGY USAGE

New HOBO=AE Temperature Logger Kit tracks temperature at home and in the
office, helps reduce energy costs

BOURNE, MA, November 14, 2006 – Onset Computer Corporation, a world leader
in professional energy monitoring tools, today unveiled a brand new
computerized temperature-tracking product for consumers that provides a
detailed, visual profile of household heat and air conditioning usage.

Designed to help reduce energy costs, the new HOBO=AE Temperature Logger Kit
combines a HOBO Data Logger – a compact, battery-powered temperature
recording device – and accompanying software that allows you to view heat
and AC activity on your home PC or Mac.

“The new HOBO Temperature Logger Kit stems from the need of many homeowners
who want to go beyond free home energy audits and really understand their
energy usage,” said Frank Deshaies, Onset product marketing manager. “It’s
all about giving homeowners greater control and allowing them to focus in
on the real opportunities for home energy savings.”

The HOBO is even easier to use than a programmable thermostat. An average
homeowner with basic computer skills can set up and activate the HOBO
within minutes. Then, it’s just a matter of disconnecting the HOBO from the
computer and placing it in areas throughout the home to be monitored.

Once data has been collected for a certain period of time, accompanying
software converts the data into time-stamped graphs that enable homeowners
to see what was happening and when. The visual data, according to Deshaies,
is the key to seeing usage habits and discovering problems.

“The minute the graph pops up on your screen, you’ll be able to see if your
thermostat settings need to be adjusted based on how early the heat comes
on in the morning or turns off at night,” explains Deshaies. “It can also
tell you if, for example, how well temperature is balanced from
room-to-room, and if your refrigerator temperature settings are too low.
There are so many opportunities to reduce consumption that homeowners never
get to see without real data.”

The HOBO U10 Kit, which includes a HOBO U10 temperature data logger,
HOBOware=AE Lite software, and USB interface cable, is priced at $79. It is
available now from Onset. More details can be found at www.onsetcomp.com.
