Studio exec ‘confirms’ iTunes movie plans

Jon Feltheimer, CEO of Lions Gate Entertainment, told analysts at the company’s recent financial earnings conference call that Apple indeed has plans to offer movies on iTunes, reports Macworld UK. “We also have digital delivery deals in place with Cinema Now, MovieLink, and iTunes, with upcoming announcements with at least two more major industry players,” he told analysts, according to /Film magazine. “In terms of iTunes movie downloads, I think most likely some time before the end of the year,” added company president Steve Beeks. “We know when they are planning on launching, but since they have not announced it publicly, I do not think it is our place to say anything more about that.” The story also notes the Apple plans on offering feature-length films on a rental basis, not for sale. Apple was not available for comment.
