MediaCentral 2.1 now integrates Skype

Munich (Germany) / San Mateo, CA (USA) – August 4, 2006. Today
equinux released MediaCentral 2.1, an essential update to the
ultimate media solution for the Mac.

MediaCentral is a must-have for every Mac user. The new version
delivers a host of new features: A seamless Skype integration, an
active on-screen display (OSD) with dynamic content and an even more
customizable user interface. Additionally, the latest release adds
many enhancements, improved stability and bugfixes.

“Millions of people all over the world are using Voice over IP
today,” says Till Schadde, CEO of equinux. “We decided to make Skype,
one of the most successful VoIP clients, readily available in
MediaCentral. This feature is the next step in merging popular media
and communication activities in MediaCentral’s elegant and intuitive
interface. MediaCentral keeps being one step ahead of the
competition.”

Jaanus Kase, Community Marketing Manager at Skype, seconds this:
“We’re delighted that equinux, one of the most high-profile Mac
software vendors, is integrating Skype into their latest release of
MediaCentral. As the internet communications market continues to
grow, more and more people are using Skype to do more than just make
voice calls over the internet. The future for how people use the
internet to communicate is limitless.”

While adding new functions, equinux also strives to keep things
simple. Our engineers achieved this by making the interface
customizable: Unneeded features can be disabled, commonly used
functions can be placed at the top of the main navigation.
MediaCentral is not just the most versatile media center for your Mac
– it’s your media center.
